Welcome to Kerala
Kerala is a state in South India on the Malabar Coast. Spread over 38,863 km2 (15,005 sq mi), it is bordered by Karnataka to the north and northeast, Tamil Nadu to the east and south, and the Lakshadweep Sea to the west. With 33,387,677 inhabitants as per the 2011 Census, Kerala is the thirteenth-largest Indian state by population. It is divided into 14 districts with the capital being Thiruvananthapuram, which is the largest city in the state. Malayalam is the most widely spoken language and is also the official language of the state.
Kerala is situated on the tropical Malabar Coast of southwestern India, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. Named as one of the ten paradises of the world by National Geographic Traveler, Kerala is famous especially for its ecotourism initiatives and beautiful backwaters. Its unique culture and traditions, coupled with its varied demography, have made Kerala one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. The tourism industry is a major contributor to the state’s economy.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT COCHIN
Arrival at Cochin Airport/ Ernakulam railway station (on your own), you will be transferred to the hotel. Sightseeing – the Chinese fishing nets, the St. Francis Church, Mattanchery Palace (closed on Friday) and the Jewish Synagogue (closed on all Saturdays and Jewish holidays and any day If announced), the oldest living Synagogue in the world. And a boating in Cochin Lake will give you a panoramic view of cochin city; the rest of the evening is at leisure.

DAY 2: COCHIN/MUNNAR
Morning after breakfast proceed on a drive through the picturesque countryside of Munnar which is 135km from cochin, was a popular gateway retreat during the British Raj. Surrounded by lush green tea estates and situated at the confluence of three mountain streams, this picturesque hill station boasts of exotic flora and fauna. On arrival check into your hotel. Evening visit to Munnar town overnight stay at the hotel. (cochin to Munnar; 135km/ 30 ½ hrs).
DAY 3: MUNNAR
Today after breakfast visit Pothamedu which offers you an excellent view of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations and famous for the breath-taking scenery it is also an ideal place for trekking and long mountain walks. Also visit Devikulam this tranquil hill station offers you a rare experience with its velvet lawns, with the cool mountain air. You can also visit Rajamala where you can spot Nilgiri Thar (mountain goat) then the Echo point where the nature reproduces your sound. Evening back to hotel and overnight stay at Munnar.

DAY 4: MUNNAR / THEKKADY
Morning after breakfast checkout from the hotel and proceed to Thekkady which is 100km from Munnar. After a relaxed morning drive from the land of tea plantations into the heart of the spice hills in Thekkady. The rest of the afternoon is free to enjoy a walk through the bustling spice market of Kumili village in Thekkady.
DAY 5: THEKKADY TO ALAPPUZHA / KUMARAKAM
Today, go for a early morning boat ride on lake Periyar which is the best way to locate wildlife in Periyar wild life sanctuary which is a tiger reserve, (boats can be hired directly). The park has herds of elephants, deer’s and wild dogs, barking deer, Smbhar, gaurs and wild boars. In the afternoon take a picturesque drive to Alappuzha / Kumarakom, located on the idyllic backwaters ad an unbelievable paradise of mangroves forests, paddy fields and coconut groves, where you check into your hotel on arrival. The rest of the evening is at leisure. (Thekkady to Alappuzha / Kumarakom; 155 km 4 ½ hrs)

DAY 6: OVERNIGHT IN HOUSEBOAT
After breakfast proceed to Houseboat check in on 12:00 noon and while cruising through backwaters you can see pathiramanal island home to many rare varieties of migratory birds from different parts of the world, also the Kumarakom bird sanctuary which is favourite haunt of migratory birds like the Siberian stock, egret, darter, heron and teal. Overnight stay at houseboat.
DAY 7: ALAPPUZHA TO KANYAKUMARI
Today check out form houseboat and depart to Kanyakumari 250 km from Alappuzha. Which is famous for watching sunrise and sunset visit Vivekananda Rock by a ferry and after returning visit Gandhi mandapam, Kanyakumari Devi temple evening watch sunset, return to hotel overnight stay.
DAY 8: KANYAKUMARI /KOVALAM
After breakfast Depart to Kovalam 80 km from Kanyakumari check in hotel, evening visit Kovalam beach which is renowned internationally and a favourite haunt of tourists since 1930. This consists of three adjacent crescent beaches. And don’t forget to get a bird’s eye view of Kovalam beach from the light house located there, day relax in beach.

DAY 9: KOVALAM TO TRIVANDRUM SIGHTSEEING BACK TO KOVALAM
After breakfast city tour of Trivandrum, visits Napier Museum which built in the 19th century , this indo-saracenic structure build in red and brown bricks boasts a natural air conditioning system and house a rare collection of archaeological and historic bronze idols a chariot etc and the srichithra art gallery displays select paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, Svetlova and Nicholas Roe rich etc. evening darshan at padmanabhaswamy temple ( non-Hindus are not allowed inside) is a splendid example of Dravidian architecture, back to hotel overnight stay.( Kovalam to Trivandrum 15 km 20 min)

DAY 10: KOVALAM TO TRIVANDRUM
After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to Trivandrum Railway station/ Airport for onward journey.
