TOUR ITINERARY

Day 01: Kannur/Calicut Transfer to Wayanad (approx 130 kms / 3.5 hours)

Arrive at Kannur/Kozhikode airport/ RLY station and transfer to Wayanad. This small yet popular town of Wayanad in

Kerala is complete with historical and ancient caves, beautiful serene waterfalls, wildlife and spice plantations is a

famous tourist destination in Kerala. On arrival, check-in to the hotel. Later in the day visit Pookot Lake - Set in a

beautiful valley and surrounded by evergreen forests and wooded hills. Facilities available boating facilities,

children’s park etc... Also visit Kanthanpara/ Soochippara waterfalls if time permits. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Wayanad

Today morning after breakfast departs to Edakal Caves - Located at a height of 1000m on Ambukuthi mala near

Ambalavayal are the Edakal Caves. Etchings found on the walls of these caves have drawn the serious attention of

archaeologists and historians worldwide. With at least three distinct sets of petroglyphs, the earliest thought to date

back over 5000 years, it is assumed that the Edakkal caves had been inhabited at various stages in history. This cave

is accessible only by a kilometre trekking/hiking from Edakal. After noon by 02.00 pm reach Muthanga wild life

sanctuary for wild life safari. Spread over a vast area Muthanga is part of Wayanad wildlife sanctuary. A variety of

large wild animals such as gaur, Asian elephant, deer and tiger etc... found here. Enjoy a 02 hrs wild life jeep safari

from 03.00 pm to 05.00 pm (On direct payment basis). Return to hotel and over night at Wayanad.

Note – Instead of above suggested plans you can opt for off road jeep safari to 900 kandi, adventure activities like

zipline/ Tribal village visit etc...(On direct payment basis)

Day 03: Wayanad to Kannur (130kms/3.5hrs)

After breakfast checkout and transfer to Kannur. The coastal town Kannur, believed to be the ancient port of Naura,

from whose shores King Solomon’s ships collected timber to build the great temple of Jerusalem. Now known as city

of looms and lore’s because of a considerable number of handloom industries functional in this area and also the

rituals and folklores namely Theyyam practiced in the temples of this region (during Nov to May). On arrival check in

hotel, later visit

Light house museum – This is the fourth light house museum ever constructed in India. The evolution of the

technologies in the lighthouse apparatuses and the developments in the lamps are the main point of interests that

the Lighthouse Museum focuses on. Also visit the light house here which is 75 feet tall which gives you an amazing

view. Then visit Handloom museum - Ten galleries that showcase the origin of the fabric, beginning of handloom,

the history of weaving machines, the outfits in various ages etc...St. Angelo’s fort which is built by Portuguese in 16

century and then visit Payambalam beach one of the famous beaches in Kannur.

Day 04: Kannur to Bekal (80kms/02hrs)

After breakfast checkout and transfer to Bekal. On the way visit Folklore academy/museum – A visit to the Folklore

Academy gives one unique insights into the artistic heritage of Kerala. The museum preserves the costumes,

headgear and other paraphernalia related to the various folk arts. These include life-size models of performers of the

ritualistic temple dances like Theyyam and Padayani, tribal musical and percussion instruments, farm implements,

weapons, as well as photographs of various art forms. This 130 year old building which was once the palace of

erstwhile Chirakkal rajas is situated in the bank of largest manmade pond in Asia, Chirakkal chira. Then visit visit

Parassini kadavu temple which attracts visitors from across the world. On the way to Bekal, proceed to Kavvayi

backwaters (if you prefer to experience kayaking through mangrove forest - Then proceed to Bekal. On arrival check

in hotel, Rest of the day relax at hotel.

Day 05: Nileshwar/Bekal

Morning after breakfast, visit Bekal Fort which is the biggest fort of Kerala which is spreading in approx 40 acres. It

was built in 17 th century. Many Bollywood and South Indian films are short here. Then proceed to Nithyanada

Ashram - Located on the hillock in Kanhangad is the holy ashram built by Swami Nityananda, Nityananda Ashram. A

place for relaxation, the place was part of a forest area and here Swami Nityananda constructed 43 guhas (holy caves)

in a mountain slope. Afternoon visit Valiyaparamba backwaters which is the third largest backwaters in Kerala.

Here you can do backwater cruises, House boat cruise, Kayaking etc... Return to hotel and Stay overnight in

Nileshwar/ Bekal.

Day 06: Departure from Kannur airport (80kms/02.5hrs)

After breakfast checkout and proceed to Kannur airport for return journey.
